Welcome to Cloud Avenue Data Insights! This guide will help you quickly get started with the platform and explore its powerful data analysis capabilities.

Quick Start with Chat

The fastest way to experience Cloud Avenue is through the Chat interface, which allows you to query and analyze your data using natural language.

Step 1: Explore with the Demo Data Source

Cloud Avenue provides a pre-configured demo data source to help you get familiar with the platform:

  1. Navigate to the Chat page from the main navigation
  2. Click "Start New Conversation" to create a new chat session
  3. The demo data source "[Demo] Jaffle Shop" is available for immediate use
  4. Select the demo source using the database icon in the chat title bar

Try Quick Start Questions:

Cloud Avenue provides helpful sample questions to guide your exploration. Simply click on any of the suggested questions to:

  • View sample data from the demo database
  • Generate visualizations and charts
  • Understand table relationships
  • Learn query patterns

These quick start questions demonstrate the types of analyses you can perform with your own data sources.

Step 2: Connect Your Own Data Source

Once you're comfortable with the demo environment, connect your production databases:

  1. Navigate to SettingsData Sources
  2. Click "Add Source"
  3. Fill in your database connection details:
  4. Choose your database type (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Snowflake, BigQuery, etc.)
  5. Enter connection credentials
  6. Test the connection to verify
  7. Click "Save" to add the data source

Your configured data sources will now be available for selection in any chat session.

Connection Security

Cloud Avenue uses a static outbound IP address for all database connections. Whitelist this IP in your database firewall for secure access. The IP address is displayed when adding a data source.

Step 3: Analyze Your Data with Chat

Start asking questions about your data in natural language:

  1. Create a new chat session or continue an existing one
  2. Select your data source using the database icon
  3. Type questions like:
    • "Show me total sales by region for this quarter"
    • "What are the top 10 customers by revenue?"
    • "Create a line chart of monthly active users"
  4. Review the AI-generated results, which may include:
    • Data tables with sortable, filterable results
    • Charts and visualizations for trend analysis
    • SQL queries showing how data was retrieved

Model Selection:

Toggle between two AI models based on your needs:

  • Light Model: Fast responses for simple queries and quick lookups
  • Advanced Model: Sophisticated analysis for complex business questions

Step 4: Save and Share Artifacts

Preserve valuable insights for future reference and collaboration:

  1. When viewing an artifact (table or chart), click the star icon to save it
  2. Saved artifacts appear in the Artifacts page in the main navigation
  3. Access saved artifacts anytime to:
    • Re-run queries with fresh data (using the refresh button)
    • Share insights with team members
    • Reference previous analyses
    • Export data for presentations

Collaborative Artifacts

Saved artifacts are shared across your organization, enabling team collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Step 5: Manage Your Saved Artifacts

The Artifacts page provides centralized management of all saved insights:

  1. Navigate to Artifacts from the main menu
  2. Browse all saved artifacts across your account
  3. Use search and filters to find specific artifacts
  4. Click any artifact to view it in full-screen mode
  5. Refresh data-connected artifacts to get the latest results
  6. Delete artifacts you no longer need

Artifact Types:

  • Data Tables: Query results with interactive controls
  • Charts: Visual representations of your data
